The Bert Boyden Community Centre was saved for the residents of Immingham due to a Community Asset Transfer process from North East Lincolnshire Council. This process was started by Mike Burton when he realised how important this facility was to the town.

Most of the running costs of the Community Centre have to be met by room hire charges. The Charity that runs the building receive no financial help from either North East Lincolnshire Council or Immingham Town Council. In fact we rely heavily on the work of volunteers and the help from the users of the Community Centre caring for the premises and cleaning up after themselves. From time to time we get grants from other sources to fund major improvements. We do what we can to keep the hire charges at an affordable level and want to see the Community Centre used as much as possible.
