Aims & Activities
Kooth offers an anonymous digital platform, which is available on any web-enabled, internet connected device (including laptop, smart phone, tablet) 24/7, 365 days a year. This includes features such as messaging the team, static forums and magazine articles. But also scheduled and ‘drop-in’ counselling sessions that take place between midday-10pm, Monday-Friday and 6pm-10pm Saturday and Sunday; counselling also occurs 365 days a year. Kooth also offer moderated live forums, which take place early evening managed by Kooth Safeguarding and media team.
Kooth Service provides:
● Articles and content – We ensure there is a broad range of content on Kooth in relation to different difficulties and presentations. Some of these may relate to specific mental health difficulties, e.g., coping strategies for anxiety or stress, and others may explore more general day-to-day experiences, e.g., friendships or online safety
● Discussion boards – encourage and facilitate peer support within the Kooth community, by posting discussion boards on topics. Our discussion boards allow our users to learn from each other, and to experience the reassurance of not being ‘alone’ with their thoughts or feelings.
● Live Forums - Live forums are held several times per month covering pre-decided and advertised topics.
● Mini activities - Is a series of step-by-step activities whose purpose it is to support and enhance children and young people’s resilience.
● Counselling and professional youth support – Kooth is an accredited counselling service which provides a range of modalities. Live counselling sessions are available via drop-in or booked appointment from midday - 10pm Monday - Friday and 6pm to 10pm at weekends, 365 days per year.
● Messaging – users can send an asynchronous message, either to the team inbox, or to their named worker if they have been allocated to someone. This allows them to send a message at any time, 24/7, to the team.
