Health Foundation research has shown that people over 65 yrs, who live alone, are 50% more likely to go to A&E than those who live with someone else, and also are more likely to be admitted to hospital as an inpatient. Our volunteer befriends will carry out regular home visits to offer company and friendship. We carefully match our volunteers to enable mutual interests and bonds are formed, for a friendship that can blossom and grow. This service can also be offered as a regular phone call, for those who prefer to chat over the phone, rather than having a visitor at home. We can also offer befriending in a residential home setting.
