Carers Support Service

Carers' Support Service

The Carers’ Support Service provides a range of practical and emotional support to unpaid/informal Carers who are caring for someone living in North East Lincolnshire.

A Carer is anyone who provides support to a family member, friend or neighbour who could not manage without them due to a medical condition, disability, frailty, substance misuse problem or mental health condition. The support a Carer provides may be practical or supervisory. Carers provide a wide range of support to the people they care for, from helping with shopping and paying bills, to managing medication and providing personal care. Carers may also provide emotional support over the phone or in person. Carers may be providing support for an hour or two a week, or up to 24 hours a day. There may be more than one Carer looking after someone. Any Carer can register with the service.

The Carers’ Support Service provides support that is designed to help a Carer manage and maintain their health and wellbeing, as well as continue caring for their family member, friend or neighbour, safely and with confidence.

The Carers’ Support Service can also connect Carers with other sources of information, advice and support, to help ensure they get the right support at the right time, including accessing a Carers’ Needs Assessment.

The support provided by the Carers’ Support Service is free, and includes the following:

- Counselling
- Befriending
- Informal emotional support
- Benefits advice, including completing forms and support with appeals
- Virtual groups
- Holistic therapies
- Specialist substance misuse support
- Training and workshops
- Support with employment

Whether or not you are receiving Carers allowance, you can still register with the Carers’ Support Service and access all available support.

The Carers’ Support Service is a free and confidential service.
