Friendship at Home

Friendship at Home CIO is a registered charity that began in 2006, to help combat the loneliness and isolation that older people face on a daily basis. We provide 1:1 practical, emotional advice and information on many things including:

- Benefits advice

- Coping strategies

- Future planning, including end of life care

- Health/diagnosis support

- Housing

- Respite and resident care

- Social activities

Useful equipment and techniques

Our weekly social clubs and activities give older people a place to meet and have a chat over a cup of tea, building friendships that often continue outside of our clubs. For those receiving our befriending service, having a regular visit from a volunteer helps them to feel valued and cared for, which in turn increases self-esteem and confidence, and lessens loneliness and isolation.
